Adherence to a code of behaviour, good manners and safety are expected at all practices and competitions.

ON COURT
- be courteous at all times to other players; don’t brag – without them you wouldn’t have a game - as server wait until the opponents are ready before beginning play - retrieve the shuttle at the end of a rally when it has fallen on your side of the net and return it promptly to your opponent - keep proper track of the score at all times - always make fair, quick and accurate line calls; if in doubt, give your opponent the benefit - make decisions for yourself rather than leaving them to the opponent - play the game for yourself, not the audience - after losing, acknowledge your opponent’s strength and your own weaknesses; avoid excuses - never cross a badminton court while the shuttle is in play - wait until the rally finishes before retrieving a shuttle which has fallen onto another court - after a match shake hands – first with your partner, then with opponent(s), then with umpire

OFF COURT
- observe the dress of the club or team - never cross a badminton court while the shuttle is in play - wait until the rally finishes before retrieving a shuttle which has fallen onto another court - don’t use your voice to frighten or distract opponent(s) - you may applaud or cheer as you see fit be sure to remain silent, however, during service to allow the players to concentrate fully - after service, spectators are encouraged to applaud a good play - you are allowed and encouraged to enjoy the play during the progress of a tournament

FAIR PLAY CODE
Fair play and sportsmanship will be expected at all practices and competitions. - I will participated because I want to, not just because my parents or coaches want me to - I will play by the rules and in the spirit of the game - I will control my temper – getting angry can spoil the activity for everybody - I will remember that winning isn’t everything – having fun, improving skills, making friends and doing my best are also important - I will acknowledge all good plays and performances – those of my team and of my opponents
