TOURNAMENT REGULATIONS & CONDITIONS

All participants must have at least a current RECREATIONAL membership (for the 2016-2017 season) prior to entering the tournament.  Renew membership and link accounts first before registering in the event. Update player profile for accuracy. Do not leave until the last moment.

FIRST TIME TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANTS
A special gift for those who are participating in a tournament for the first time OR for an adult who is returning to competition after not playing for many years.

AGE GROUPS and EVENTS – Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles
U13 (born in 2005 or later) U15 (born in 2003 or later)
U17 (born in 2001 or later) U19 (born in 1999 or later)
U23 (born in 1995)
Open (any age as of date of tournament)
Masters 40+, 50+, 60+ (as of date of tournament)
Each U13 – U17 participant may enter a maximum of 3 Events
Each U19 – Masters’ participant may enter a maximum of 4 Events
2 Singles, 2 Doubles, 2 Mixed Doubles

*NOTE – Entry fee includes shuttles, a participant gift of appreciation and welcome package
** An Adult/Child event will run if there is enough interest (Child must be U19)

Each player must complete their entry and payment online using the tournament software link. Unpaid entries will not be included in the draws.  Changes to the entries are NOT permitted after the entry deadline.  In the event of Doubles and Mixed doubles, both players must be entered before the entry deadline or they will be randomly paired up, if any partner requests are available.

NO REFUNDS AFTER THE WITHDRAWAL DATE (Thursday, April 20th, 2017)

RAFFLE
Custom made wood crafts or artisan donated items valued $60 – $150
Tickets will be $5 for one ticket or $15 for 5 tickets

Free for all participants and spectators.

RULES
Rules of Badminton BC and Badminton Canada in effect – 10 minute default rule applies and 3 minute warm ups.

Warm Up & Cool Down Area
in the CNC Squash Courts
utilize for skipping, stretching, etc. no hitting shuttles permitted

Draws and Match Play
U13, Adult/Child  – 1 game to 31
U15, U17, U19, U23, Open & Masters – best 2 out of 3 games to 21
Round Robin – utilized for 5 or less teams/players
for remaining draws a combination of Pool Play to Elimination/Round Robin or Elimination to B & C Flight draws will be used depending on the number of entries in each event

Line Judging & Scorekeeping
all players 18 & under will be expected to Line Judge, Shuttle or Warm Up Control or Scorekeep following each match they just played
once you complete your game report to Draw Desk for your assignment

Tournament Play
to check your events and match times click on your name from the Players list in Tournament Software
match order of play will be available for your viewing on the TV that will be just outside the gym
draws will be posted outside the gym
matches and court assignment will be announced over the PA
players are to collect scorecard from Draw Desk desk prior to going to court
players to collect shuttle from Shuttle Control in center of the gym (Adult/Child & U13 – U19 event Nylon Shuttles; U23, Open & Masters Feather Shuttles)
WARM UP is 3 minutes and will be timed by Warm Up Control in center of gym
warm up shuttles will be in the bins beside the courts
winners of match to bring scorecard to the Draw Desk desk; losing team brings shuttles to Shuttle Control
access to courts is on perimeter of gym; do not go through the centre of the gym
hitting any obstacle on the roof is a fault
10 minute default rule in effect; 10 minutes starts once match is announced
players are not allowed to leave the court once match is underway (bring water bottle, extra racquets, towels to the court prior to match starting); go to the bathroom prior to match called

STRINGING SERVICES
Will be on-site all day Saturday, April 29th and on-call for the Friday & Sunday

Participants can only win one prize
if your name is picked for more than one prize, the participant has a choice between prizes
we will be redrawing for the one that they didn’t pick
